We know you. We know what you like, dislike, love and detest and we know that you LOVE a good hair day. I mean, who doesn't? But sometimes it can prove extremely tricky when trying to either target your curl concerns or achieve a certain look. But that is okay! We get how complicated curl care can be when you are not equipped with simple and easy information. Luckily, we have got your back (or, shall we say curls) to help you to keep it quick, easy and effective. But first, let's talk about the main curl concerns that you have told us about.
- Excessive frizz and pesky flyaways ➿
- Super tangled curls 🧶
- Minimum definition ⌇
- No root volume 🌱
We're going to help you restore that curl confidence quickly with minimal effort, but maximum results.
#1: Routine to reduce excessive frizz and flyaways
We have said it before and we shall say it again. Frizz is your hair screaming for hydration. And what do we want to do for hair that is screaming for hydration? We hydrate it, naturally! Without the nasties and drying alcohols.
Your suggested routine for reducing frizz and flyawaysSTEP 1: BOOST HYDRATION
After detangling with a spritz of water, dampen your curls with our ultra-hydrating Rose Water Curl Mist. Because this mist is loaded with purifying white jasmine oil and replenishing aloe vera powder, you can expect a great start to boosting hair hydration.
STEP 2: PRIME WITH MOISTURE & FRIZZ-REDUCING INGREDIENTS
Now, prime your curls with the Rose Water Detangling Lotion from our Hydrate Me range. This lightweight leave-in is infused with vitamin B (Panthenol) which enhances the sheen on the cuticles to create high shine and silkiness while reducing frizz and flyaways. Oat silk is also added to further help deter frizz and flyaways. Hydrating and moisturising rose water and honey soften and condition your hair superbly.
#2: Your routine for releasing tough tangles without causing breakage
Tangles can be tough. But, luckily we don't have one, or two products that can help with teasing out the tangles gently... we have three! And that being said, we have a special tool that will help you glide through the toughest of tangles, pain-free.
STEP 1: PREP YOUR CURLS
Easily prep your curls by dampening/wetting your hair to deter dry detangling. Dry detangling can cause breakage, and split ends and as a whole is a lot more painful than wet detangling.
STEP 2: PRIME WITH PROTECTION
Use the Citrus Superfruit Detangling Mist to prime your curls with protection. This mist releases tangles instantly and is a must-have in your detangling routine. After liberally spraying this on your hair from roots to tips, start to section the hair to work in smaller sections to aid in detangling successfully. You may part your hair in 4, 8, or even 12 sections.
STEP 3: DETANGLE WITH RADIANCE & HYDRATION
You may need to reapply a few spritzes of the Superfruit Detangling Mist to the sections that you will be working on first. This is fine. Do so and then detangle with your fingers first from the tips to the roots. Notice how easy that was? Now that the tangles have been teased out, apply a pound size amount of the Rose Water Detangling Lotion to your hair and distribute the product by using a comb from the tips to the roots. This comb will enable you to glide through tangles that you have missed in your sections.
After you have detangled your curls and have given each section the TLC it deserves, continue to style as you normally would! Your curls have now been protected from external agents and have had a boost of radiance from the Citrus Superfruit Detangling Mist. They have also received ultra-nourishing botanicals that help hydrate and moisturise (without the weight) from the Rose Water Detangling Lotion. And as a whole, your detangling session with our must-have detanglers did all the hard work! You're welcome!
#3: Your routine for maximising your curl definition
You've tried all of the hacks, tricks and tips to get definition, but to no avail - you're still not receiving the desired outcome. Sometimes, it is not the application methods that are wrong. It can just be the products themselves. And if you have tried the latest curl hacks with your stylers but still aren't getting anywhere... well, it is time to come over to the Flora & Curl side.
Our best-sellers are our stylers. That includes the Sweet Hibiscus Curl Activating Lotion and the Sweet Hibiscus Curl Defining Gel. So, you can feel safe in the arms of our stylers.
STEP 1: PRIME TO ACTIVATE
Dampen your hair and section as you would if you were detangling. Add a pound size of the Sweet Hibiscus Curl Activating Lotion to your sections and ensure the product is well distributed to make sure that each strand is covered lightly with the activating lotion. Do this for each section.
STEP 2: TIME TO DEFINE
Repeat the above with the Sweet Hibiscus Curl Defining Gel and leave your hair to air dry or you can diffuse as you normally would.
STEP 3: SCRUNCH OUT THE CRUNCH
You will notice a firm cast over your now super-defined curls. This is normal and how gels should feel. But ours differs, because it doesn't leave stickiness or flaky residue! We want to scrunch out the crunch to make the curl definition look natural. We can do this by clapping or smoothening the strands in between our hands.
TOP TIP
If your curls are prone to frizz, use a little bit of the Citrus Superfruit Radiance Oil to reduce it and add a radiant shine. If you are worried that your curls may be weighed-down by the oil, use the Citrus Superfruit Detangling Mist to encourage shine, bounce and radiance. Simply spray the mist in your palms and emulsify—follow the clapping, praying hands or smoothening technique to break the curl cast.
#4: Your routine for raising root volume
Root volume can be super hard to achieve. But not for our Sweet Hibiscus Curl Volumizing Foam. Our multi-award winner is yet to be put down, this foam gives, as our customers put it, 'amazing volume'. You heard it here first, our customers are rooting for our volume-boosting foam and you should be too! We've got you!
STEP ONE: KEEP IT SIMPLE
We want to keep this routine minimum. Why? Because the more products you add the heavier your hair will be. This means the harder it will be to get maximum root volume. This routine has been tried and tested by A LOT of our curlfriends on socials.
SO. Shake your Sweet Hibiscus Volumizing Foam vigorously to activate. Apply one pump (on dry hair), emulsify with fingers and pinch at the roots with the product on your fingertips. Gradually add more and scrunch roots upwards. Create balance by applying foam all over the hair and scrunching to encourage height!
Want extra volume? use a Fro Pick to target flat areas from roots to tips without encouraging frizz.
There you have it! 4 easy ways to target your curl concerns with effective methods, tried and tested by your Flora & Curl community.
