Meet Isabelle! Curly girl from Wolverhampton in the UK shares her continuous journey to keeping her curls healthy and nourished. 2 years down the line and her natural curl pattern has returned and styling with heat is a major no-no! 

The Journey

What inspired you to return natural?

I’m from Wolverhampton in the UK! I have never really known what to do with my hair, I always thought it was a weird frizzy wavy mess and that it would always be unmanageable. My mom has super curly hair naturally and I started to see videos online of women with hair like mine discovering that with the right care then their hair could be curly! This massively inspired me to treat my hair right and see if my hair was actually curly. So I switched to natural products and started diffusing my hair and it was curly from the first wash! I was so shocked! I have stopped using heat on my hair and I have now been caring for my hair properly for almost 2 years! It used to be so damaged from heat styling and just damaging products for so many years but my hair is at a place now where it is super healthy! My hair is now really shiny and not dry and brittle like it used to be. I absolutely love my natural curls now and I never use heat styling on my hair anymore as I love my curls! I feel so much more confident in myself now that my hair looks great and is really healthy!

What were the challenges (if any) along the way of your healthy hair journey?

I found that finding the right products for me was really challenging at first. With so many products on the market it can get confusing what your hair needs and all the different ingredients confused me. I struggled a lot with getting volume as I was using products that would weigh my hair down and I didn’t know what caused it.

What is your number 1 curl tip?

For me, my number one tip is to apply my products straight out of the shower on really wet hair! This helps me with definition and means my curls are super moisturised.
