We LOVE hot oil treatments! How can you not? Hot oil treatments are great for stimulating blood flow as well as helping your hair to grow.
Whether you are suffering from dry scalp, dandruff, moisture loss or frizz, there are many different oils that serve different purposes, and a hot oil treatment can help with your curl culprit.
Dandruff and dry scalp
Many curlies struggle with dry scalp and dandruff which can become very itchy and sometimes unbearable. Hot oil treatments are great for soothing dry scalps and keeping dandruff at bay. Our African Citrus Superfruit Hair Oil is a multi-tasking hair saviour. Not only can it be used as an overnight hot oil treatment, a pre-poo treatment and a frizz minimising serum it also works brilliantly as a defence against damages caused by the sun, sea and chlorinated water. Hot oil treatments also help to stimulate blood flow to your scalp. A nice scalp massage will help increase blood circulation and in turn promote hair growth. Take a look at our Scalp Refresh Massager to start a therapeutic scalp regimen. We also just recently launched our Coconut Mint Scalp Refresh Pre-Shampoo Oil, specifically for soothing scalp conditions and providing natural comfort.
Moisture
Hot oil treatments are amazing at providing moisture to dry hair. The warm oil helps to penetrate the hair strands and moisturise them. Natural hair can tend to be dry, so any type of moisturising hot oil treatment can help this. The hot oil method helps to bring back moisture and prevents dryness—ultimately reducing the likeliness of excessive breakage.
Frizz
Hot oil treatments can help minimise frizz too. It also helps to seal the ends of your hair strands which in turn prevents split ends. When adding a hot oil treatment to your weekly regimen you will begin to see the changes in your hair shortly. Your hair will look and feel healthier with a beautiful shine to complement.
How To Apply a Hot Oil Treatment
Instantly add shine and minimise frizz: Apply a few drops, and warm oil between your palms and apply unto clean, wet or dry hair to seal ends and add shine. Use on your finished style to add shine and softness.
Therapeutic Scalp Massage: To absorb all the active benefits in the oil, apply oil starting from the scalp (take a deep breath while breathing in the therapeutic aroma, that will calm your nerves, and relieve stress) massage into hair/scalp to stimulate the hair follicles. Cover hair with the Insulated Shower Cap and let sit for 30 minutes or overnight.
Bonus Tips: Add a few drops to your favourite shampoo or deep conditioner to impart extra softness, moisture, and promote healthier hair. Apply to wet or even dry hair to boost moisture in second, third, and fourth-day hair to revive curls, coils, and waves.
Sun / Sea / Water Protection: Generously apply oil to hair to coat the hair shaft. Twist hair up in individual sections and you are good to go!
Naturally yours,
