5 Hair Tools A Curly Girl Can't Live Without

By the title of this blog post I can already tell you are all thinking about the number of hair tools you have. Well, I'm exactly the same. From wide tooth combs, to heat caps and head scarfs, we probably have more than what we actually need. But what if I was tell you that out of everything, all you really need are the essential 5.

Detangling Tools

There are so many detangling tools out there on the market to help you get through the knots and tangles which can arise on a daily basis. Detangling helps to remove any shed hairs, making your wash day easier, styling a breeze, and distributing products though out your hair evenly.

These tools can range from:

Wide Tooth Comb
Tangle Teezer
Denman Brush
Your Fingers

It is always best to detangle on wet hair and in sections starting from the ends and working your way up. For example, while washing your hair, make sure your strands are extremely wet. Using a conditioner that gives a lot of slip will help your choice of detangling tool glide easily through out your strands. Always remember to be gently when detangling. Your hair is extremely fragile while wet and can break easily. Moisturising and sealing with the LOC or LCO method, always starting with a liquid of your choice. So don't be afraid to spray liberally.

Heat Cap/Steamer

Deep conditioning is a must for any natural hair journey, but when you add a steamer or heat cap to the mix this definitely becomes a game changer. These tools are not only good for deep conditioning, but they are great for hot oil, pre poos and protein treatments. Using a heat cap or steamer can help soften and moisturise your hair cuticles. This is a great idea if you know your hairs porosity. If your more of a DIY person, a good old shower cap will do just the trick. Another way to condition your hair is to allow the heat and steam from your shower to condition and open your cuticles.

Satin Head Scarf/Satin Bonnet

Now I know I'm not the only one who puts their head scarf on as soon as I get home from work right? Using a satin head scarf or satin bonnet is a must for any natural. Not only does the material help keep your style in tact, it also helps protect your curls from any type of friction created by using a cotton pillow case. Que the satin pillow case, helping keep your kinks, coils and curls moisturised and frizz free. Just as good as the scarf and bonnet, having a satin pillow case will make sure your curls are protected throughout the night just in case your head scarf was to fall off. If you don't like the restriction of tying your hair up, you can also place your curls in a pineapple and sleep straight on the satin case.

Spray Bottle

Small, tall, short or round, a spray bottle is a must have for keeping your tresses lubricated enough to start the LOC/LCO process. Not only that, it gets your hair just wet enough to allow you to easily manipulate your hair strands and evenly distribute and moisturise your hair ready for styling and detangling. What do you like to put in your spray bottle? I love using our Jasmine Oasis Hydrating Hair Mist to re hydrate and style my curls.

Frizz Free Taming Towel

Using a frizz free towel or old t shirt is a more gentle way to dry your hair. It will help reduce frizz and keep curls together. Throughout the drying process your hair will get roughed up and pulled in different directions, a frizz free towel will help avoid this and not damage your hair strands.

Are there any other tools you just can't live without?

Naturally yours,
Kaisha

Really impressed!

So happy to have found this product! I only have wavy hair rather than curly which drops throughout the day, this product smells great, a little goes a long way, no sticky feeling whatsoever when dry, and gives amazing volume and the beachy look I love all day long - best of all, it’s cruelty free and vegan!! I’m a very happy customer - thank you :-)
