From heat caps to head scarfs and combs and spray bottles, there are so many curl tools that a curly simply can't live without! Here are 5 curly must-haves to look after your curls the best you can.

Detangling Tools

Detangling tools are a godsend. Simply put. Imagine having no means to help navigate through your most knottiest curls (the horror!) Not only are these tools miraculous for just that, but combs, picks and brushes are great for either creating volume, distributing your product throughout your hair, making wash day easier and your styling sessions a breeze. Do you have any of these in your cabinet? If not... what are you doing?!

Top tools:

Good to note: when detangling your delicate curls, always detangle when curls are wet to damp and ensure you start from the ends and work your way up gently and gradually. To minimise breakage on wash days, comb your curls using a conditioner that gives a lot of slip.

Heat Cap/Steamer

Deep conditioning is a must for any natural hair journey, but when you add a steamer or heat cap to the mix this definitely becomes a game changer. These tools are not only great for deep conditioning, but they are great for hot oil, pre poos and protein treatments. Using a heat cap or steamer can help soften and moisturise your hair cuticles. This is a great idea if you know your hair porosity. If your more of a DIY person, a good old shower cap will do just the trick. Another way to condition your hair is to allow the heat and steam from your shower to condition and open your cuticles.

Have you heard of our latest wash day innovation? Our 2 in 1 Insulated Shower Cap is deeply woven and handmade with love, make sure you check it out. It's a great tool to employ indirect heat to nourish your curls to the core.

Satin Head Scarf/Satin Bonnet

Using a satin head scarf or satin bonnet is a must. Not only does the material help keep your style in tact, it also helps protect your curls from any type of friction created by using a cotton pillow case. Cue the satin pillowcase, helping keep your kinks, coils and curls moisturised and frizz free. Just as good as the scarf and bonnet, having a satin pillowcase will make sure your curls are protected throughout the night just in case your headscarf slips off. You can also place your curls in a pineapple using our ultra-soft Vegan Satin Scrunchies and sleep straight on a satin pillowcase.

Spray Bottle

Small, tall, short or round, a spray bottle is a must have for keeping your tresses lubricated enough to start your hydrating or styling process.

Gentle Curl Towel

Wash day frizz is real. If you want to significantly reduce frizz, deter breakage and retain moisture from your wash day, using a microfibre, gentle, curl-specific towel will keep your curls in check. Have you tried our Gentle Curl Towel yet? It's super smooth and our customers absolutely love completing their wash day with it. Did we mention that it is also great for plopping too?!

Are there any other tools you just can't live without? We'd love to know.

Naturally yours,
Team Flora & Curl
