How To Care For Your Braids on Wash Day

While protective styling we are able to postpone wash day a little longer. But when it is time to wash our tresses, we want to keep things as simple and as easy as possible.
Once braids are submerged in water they can become very heavy, therefore it is best to first wash your scalp out of the shower. Using a spray bottle mixed with water and a little shampoo (sulphate free is best) will allow easy access to your scalp. You don't have to put the shampoo on the length of your braids as the lather it creates will be sufficient enough to run down and cleanse the rest of your braids. Or if you're not one for shampoo, why not try and ACV rinse Apple Cinder Vinegar rinse.
Now to condition or not to condition, that is the question. Or maybe skip the conditioning process and add a leave - in instead? Do curlies even condition let alone deep condition while protective styling on wash day? Conditioning is a step of adding moisture back into our strands after the shampooing process. Smoothing the hairs cuticles resulting in shiny and hydrated hair. Deep conditioning goes ones step further by also helping to reduce breakage and repairing the hairs cuticle. I guess it is all about preference whether you choose to condition or not. But using a rinse out conditioner will add protection and moisture to the hair within the braids.
Moisturising and sealing is the last step to a successful wash day while protective styling. After part drying, using a liquid leave - in will add in more moisture. Our Jasmine Oasis Hydrating Hair Mist is the perfect solution for dry, dehydrated hair and refreshing your braids throughout the week.
Hydrate thirsty hair with a botanically active fusion of floral essences: Organic Rose Flower Water, Aloe Vera and bioactive flower oils of Lavender, Jasmine and Sandalwood. Hair transforms from dry and brittle to instantly softened with a therapeutic spritz to activate your kinks & coils daily.
Unlike spraying hair with tap water or hard water which contain chlorine and various metal minerals, this botanical mist moisturises your curls the way nature intended. Your hair generously receives all the potent benefits, without build up from additional synthetic additives.
How do you care for your protective style on wash day?

Naturally yours,

Team Flora & Curl
