Back to Basics: DIY Conditioners

It's amazing what everyday natural ingredients we can find in our kitchens to help transform our dull and dry curls on washday. Whether you've run out of your favourite conditioner or want to try a more natural route, then why not DIY.

Banana Colada
Protein Sensitive DIY Conditioner

A moisturising protein sensitive conditioner that everyone can use. Feel free to adjust the qualities to how much you will need for your hair.

You will need:
1 Banana
1/2 a can of Coconut milk
1 Cup of Aloe Vera juice
3 tablespoons of Olive Oil
  1. Mix all ingredients throughly using a blender.
  2. Part hair into sections and apply this conditioning recipe from root to tip paying extra attention to your ends.
  3. Cover your curly tresses with a shower cap, plastic bag or cling film/saran wrap and condition for 30 minutes.
  4. Rinse out and proceed with styling.

  • Bananas are great for reducing frizz and improving moisture content in your hair.
  • Aloe Vera restores strength to your hair, soothes your scalp, conditions and promotes shine and reduces frizz.
  • Coconut milk is a fatty substance that will give strength to your tresses while nourishing and moisturising.
  • Olive softens and moisturises dry hair. Also promoting shine and reduces frizz.
*Side note: Coconut and banana can sometimes be an irritant to most people. So please test on a small section of hair first*

Amazing Product!

It was so simple using this product and my 4C hair felt so soft after washing it out. I could literally run my hands through my hair with no tangle. This is my go to for whenever my hair is super dry and feels lifeless. Also it smells wonderful!!

A little goes a long way with this oil, first time using I think I used too much and it felt a little heavy on my hair (although it still didn't look greasy). However, I have since used as an overnight treatment before wash day and had great results. Smells wonderful too!

I was very surprised at how much this shampoo lathers. It cleanses my hair and scalp without drying them out. It left my hair soft and shiny. Great product.

This is a great product, it smells nice and was very easy to apply onto my thick curly hair. It left my hair baby soft, I've never used anything that has been able to soften my hair so much. I love it!

I'm so happy; finally found a hair care line that my curls love! It is, perhaps, a investment, but you will get soft and light curls in reuturn! And less is more: use small amounts, that is especially true for the hair butter.
