Nicole Kidman Shares Her Secret To Bringing Back Her Natural Curls

In the early days of Kidman's career, she boasted her naturally curly locks. As she became more pertinent in the film industry and the Hollywood scene, she seemed to have shied away from her beautiful curls. Kidman is now on a journey to bringing those curls back after years of straightening and chemically dyeing her hair.

In the early days of Kidman's career, she boasted her naturally curly locks that perfectly accentuated her face and gave curly people the confidence to go out and rock their natural hair. However, Kidman soon shied away from her natural beauty as she got more pertinent in the film industry and the Hollywood scene (so it seemed).

Maturing through the years like fine wine, Kidman talks to the editors at InStyle about the health of her natural curls and how she "tortured them to death" through straightening and chemically damaging them. Kidman has since told WHO Magazine that she "really wanted to have that suntanned skin and long blonde hair," she adds that she "wanted to conform and be the Aussie beach girl."

Her curls have made some appearances, most definitely - but more often than not, the straighteners would take the lead. Last year, we saw Kidman rocking her natural waves more than ever (especially on her Instagram feed), and in her latest Harper's Bazaar feature she is seen with her voluminous waves with a fierce and unapologetic nature - and we are absolutely loving it.

But Kidman has a secret on how she brought her curls back to life... The miraculous cure to bringing your curls back (as Kidman swears by) is hair oil. That's right. She ensures her hair has a layer of protection using various oils to see what work best for her, and if you hadn't noticed the sheen on her hair in the Award-Winning series she starred in; The Undoing, you most definitely will now. Look, life is a journey and self-love isn't always an easy thing to approach. It really can take time. Kidman, 54 has only very recently started to embrace her locks - and that's fine. It's all in your own time.

In another interview with The Sydney Morning Herald Kidman says:
"Do I wish that I hadn’t screwed up my hair by straightening it all the time? Sure. I’ve had skin cancer; do I wish I’d been more careful with the sun? Yes, to all those things. But am I grateful to be around? Oh, yeah. And am I willing to share my knowledge, what I’ve learnt along the way? Absolutely.”

To be honest, we're just so happy to see yet another celebrity embrace their natural beauty through their wonderful waves and curls. Kudos to Kidman on her journey toward self-love and being her most authentic self. It's been a process and will be for you, but will it be worth it? YES.

Do you have any celebrities that you look up to? Celebs that have embraced their curls and have not conformed to westernised beauty standards? We'd love to know who has kept you going on the road to self-love.

Naturally Yours,
The Team at Flora & Curl
