Happy 6th birthday to us! 6 years of Flora & Curl. Where has the time gone?
Our mission has always been to say goodbye to complicated curl routines, and say hello to plant-powered curl care that actually works.
Many of you have been with us from the very beginning, riding alongside us and helping us change the curly hair space one curl at a time. We are so excited to celebrate this special occasion with you. So let's take a trip together down memory and see how things got started and how it's going.
With a passion to see hydrating, nourishing and conscious curl care products in the market, Flora & Curl was born. With the launch of our first 3 products, our multi-tasking Jasmine Oasis Hydrating Hair Mist, Flower Garden Hair Butter and African Citrus Bloom Superfruit Hair Oil were well received.
We received our very first Editors Choice Awards as selected by NaturallyCurly. Our Jasmine Oasis Hydrating Hair Mist won Best Hair Refresher, our Flower Garden Hair Butter won Best Hair Butter, and we won Best Packaging!
Stylist Magazine has crowned us as one of the best Black-owned hair brands. While the Beauty Independent named us a natural products brand who caters to women everywhere with textured hair.
Summer curls at the ready, we launched our first ever Styling products. Our Sweet Hibiscus Curl Activating Lotion and Sweet Hibiscus Curl Defining Gel are the perfect styling duo. Along with our stylers, our hydrating dream team were also launched. This included our Rose Water & Honey Cream Shampoo, and Rose Water & Honey Cream Conditioner.
Our first accessory, the Gentle Curl Towel was born. This lightweight, smooth, ultra-soft Curl Towel is the perfect solution to absorbing water from curls when they are at their most delicate.
Our Founder and CEO Rose Ovensehi also graced the Forbes #30under30 list in the Retail & E-commerce category.
This year was a busy year for us. We reached a huge milestone of 100K followers on Instagram, and had launched a selection of our products in 24 of Superdrug’s top kinky, coily and curly stores across the UK. At present, we are now stocked in 300 Superdrug stores.
We also launched our giving back initiative and partnered with Days For Girls. Supporting women and girls in education with essential menstrual health care in Malawi. We care not only about creating natural and safe products, but also about making a positive difference in our world.
2021 also saw the launch of our viral Sweet Hibiscus Curl Volumizing Foam and thirst quenching Sweet Hibiscus Twist & Braid Cream. Along with our Coconut Mint Curl Refresh Clay Wash, we expanded our Soothe Me range with 4 new additions. All formulated to support a healthier scalp, and target scalp issues.
Can you say award season? 2022 was a big year for us, collecting 12 awards in total. Our Sweet Hibiscus Curl Volumizing Foam collected 3 top spots, and we were also crowned Best Natural Hair Care Products Brand and Best Ingredient-Conscious Hair Care Line.
We started off the year strong by launching our plant-powered curl care online at Boots.com. The UK’s leading health and beauty retailer. The Beauty Shortlist Awards have also crowned 6 of our products and founder as some of the best Inclusive Beauty and Editors Choice products, and Best Blacked Owned Brand in the UK.
